说明

The Weimar Republic is often remembered as a period marked by national disgrace following Germany’s defeat in World War I. The harsh conditions and restrictions imposed by the Allied forces, coupled with territorial encroachments by neighbours like France and Poland, led to what Kurt Eggers describes as the “death of Germany’s honour.” In response, paramilitary groups known as the Freikorps emerged to challenge the perceived humiliation of their nation.

Rebel Mountain recounts the dramatic attempt by these groups to retake the mountain of Annaberg in Upper Silesia from Polish forces. This narrative, rich in struggle and bravery, rebellion and duty, draws from Eggers’ firsthand involvement in the conflict at just fifteen years old. Through the perspectives and emotions of fictional characters, Eggers vividly recounts his experiences during this turbulent time, portraying the resolve of men who fought for an unrecognized cause to preserve the dignity of their nation.
