David's Care

A direct appeal from David's family for the round-the-clock care he now receives at home.

Ongoing Appeal

Book sales keep the office and the archive running — they do not cover David's care. Donations made on this page go to his care fund, administered by his family.

An Announcement from His Family

London · July 2026

David is at home, comfortable and in good spirits.

During a working visit to the United States in autumn 2023, David suffered a stroke. His family was subsequently given an NHS diagnosis of vascular dementia.

He is cared for around the clock and surrounded by those who love him. He cannot return to his work, and the family has carried the cost of his care privately for two and a half years.

Donations made here are administered by his family and used solely for David's care—not for the office, archive or publishing. Nothing is expected from anyone who cannot comfortably spare it.

Messages for David may be sent to info@irvingbooks.com. His family reads them to him and asks only for patience with replies and respect for the family's privacy.

A monthly contribution is especially helpful because care costs recur every month; a gift of any size helps.

Stewardship

Every donation made on this page goes to David's care — nursing, therapy, and round-the-clock support at home — administered by his family. The bookshop helps sustain the office, website and archive, but book sales do not cover this round-the-clock care.

“Nothing is expected from anyone who cannot comfortably spare it, and a gift of any size helps.”
