Support Our Work

Help Sustain
Irving Books

Support David's care, preserve the archive, and help us keep publishing primary-source history.

Independent Work

Book sales cover part of what we do. Donations help meet the wider costs of David's care, preserving and digitising the archive, publishing new editions, and running the office and website.

An Announcement from His Family

London · July 2026

David is at home, comfortable and in good spirits.

During a working visit to the United States in autumn 2023, David suffered a stroke. His family was subsequently given an NHS diagnosis of vascular dementia.

He is cared for around the clock and surrounded by those who love him. He cannot return to his work, and the family has carried the cost of his care privately for two and a half years.

Donations made here support the work as a whole and may be used where most needed, including David's care, the office, archive, website and publishing. Nothing is expected from anyone who cannot comfortably spare it.

Messages for David may be sent to info@irvingbooks.com. His family reads them to him and asks only for patience with replies and respect for the family's privacy.
