Uniforms, equipment and illustrated reference

Alongside its organisational charts, the handbook records the clothing and equipment of the Nazi Party and its affiliated organisations. The original German captions identify uniform details and variations, allowing the plates to be examined as historical reference material.

The collar insignia chart below sets out distinctions within the party’s national leadership. Colour, borders, embroidered devices and bars form a visual hierarchy, with the original German labels beside each example. Reading this facsimile

This 653-page digital edition includes searchable OCR text and 176 navigation bookmarks for moving between sections and plates. For quotations and fine detail, check the original page image; historic type can produce recognition errors in the search text.

The fixed page layouts preserve the original book’s appearance. A tablet or computer is recommended for viewing complete pages and zooming into the illustrated plates; the text does not reflow when the type size changes. Original German; no translation.

The interior was restored from high-resolution images of the 1936 edition. Digital restoration reduced paper discolouration, isolated spots and scan-edge shadows, while retaining the printed text and illustrations. Some original printing irregularities and source blemishes remain.
